I Built A Home in my Heart
In 2017 I exhibited a series of large, linocut prints on the subject of “Home”. In my childhood home in Missouri, my environment was saturated with various examples of American Folk Art—outsider art made by the Amish in the forms of furniture and paintings. The lexicon from those pieces is like my first visual language. I wanted to create a collection exploring the shape of a house, derived from the quilt block pattern. The show was held at Common Area Maintence. The owner, Timothy, helped me create an environmental installation of a large articulating panel shaped like the houses from the prints that we served drinks out of for the evening.
